Why Choose a Smart Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm?

A combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm helps protect against two serious household hazards in one device. Smoke alarms help provide early warning in the event of a fire, while carbon monoxide alarms help detect a dangerous gas that cannot be seen, smelled, or tasted.

Smart alarm features can add another layer of convenience by helping homeowners monitor alarm status and stay more aware of safety conditions in the home. For many households, upgrading to a First Alert SC5 Smart Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm is a practical step toward more connected home safety.

Where to Use First Alert SC5 Smart Alarms

For better home protection, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms should be installed in key areas throughout the home. Always follow the installation instructions included with your specific alarm model, but common locations include bedrooms, hallways, living areas, and each level of the home.

Battery-Operated vs. Hardwired SC5 Alarms

The right SC5 model depends on your home’s setup. The battery-operated version is useful for flexible placement and homes without existing hardwired alarm connections. The hardwired version is a strong option for homes already equipped with compatible hardwired alarm wiring.

Compare both options to find the best First Alert SC5 Smart Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm for your home:

Smart Alarm Safety Reminder

Smart alarms can help improve awareness, but they should be part of a complete home safety plan. Make sure your household has working alarms, a practiced escape plan, and properly placed fire safety equipment. Review alarm placement, test devices regularly, and replace older units when they reach the end of their recommended service life.
