Quick and efficient website and delivery.
Quick delivery. Easy website.
I was afraid I would mess up and get shocked or burn the house down or fall. It went smooth, I replaced the radioactive one with this one in the babys room. Works fine, 1/2 hour job. The wires for the unit are stranded and the house wiring is solid so it was a bit strange getting the wire nuts to work but it is fine. Just give the wires a tug when they are in the wire-nut to make sure they are tight inside.
The quality and safety features outweigh the cost of the detector!
Our HOA selected the 7020B for the added safety features + overall value + the First Alert brand name & warranty. Installations went quickly, and everything tested perfectly. It was great getting the entire building updated at the same time, and the First Alert website made planning and ordering a breeze.
Just installed today and so far no false alarms. With the reputation of First Alert, I am confident that I made a good investment.
The devices arrived on-time, were easy to install and work perfectly.
Needed to replace 18 year old units and this was perfect for a hallway between rooms to allow safe exiting. Works great.
I could not find a replacement for one of my home smoke detectors locally. I ordered it online and it was delivered in less than 5 days. It was easy to find replacement.
In the process of many hours of research, reading hundreds of reports of how it's usually impossible to see through the smoke that is created by a fire, I decided that it would be absolutely necessary to have two alarm systems with escape lights for the upstairs bedrooms & downstairs hallway, so all of the family can see to get out safely in case of a fire...great invention FIRST ALERT!!!
Product was received in good condition. Replaced a detector from a different brand which started to false alarm. Installation was easy with no issues. No false alarms. Everything is working correctly. I plan to replace my other detectors with the same model in the near future.
Looks to be a quality build. Easy to install with Firex adapter not included. Tested and works well on old FirEx system.
I brought the 7020B to replace the five original smoke detectors in my house. The 7020B came with the wiring adapters and well made mounting rings. It took less than 30 minutes to install all of them using a step ladder, a Phillips screwdriver and a wire stripper for the interconnection wire. I like the emergency lighting feature and the easy access door for the battery. The only thing I would do to improve it is to use a marker to highlight the polarity markings for the battery to avoid installing it incorrectly when replacing it.
Product FAQs
It is important that you have the proper placement for your smoke alarms. Install your alarms at least 20 feet from appliances like furnaces and ovens, which produce combustion particles. Alarms should be at least 10 feet from high humidity areas like showers and laundry rooms, and at least 3 feet from heat/AC vents. Be sure to install a smoke alarm in each bedroom, one at the top of each stairwell, and one on every level.
